Provost concert to air on KET

MURRAY, Ky. -- Murray State University “The Provost’s Concert---A Tribute to Retiring Provost Dr. Gary Brockway” is scheduled to air on the Kentucky Educational Television (KET) network July-August. The concert was held on April 22, starring Alison Brown and Terry Mike Jeffrey and featuring the Murray State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dennis Johnson.

MSU 2010 Next Generational Scholars

MURRAY, Ky. – Murray State University American Humanics/Youth & Nonprofit Leadership program is proud to announce the recipients of the highly completive Next Generational Scholarships for 2010. Five MSU students applied for the scholarship and each were awarded: Kirby O’Donoghue, Susan Lawhead, Alexandra Simon, Kristen Smith and Beverly Wheatley.

Murray State JMC Professor Presentation Chosen for Continuing Legal Education Credit

MURRAY, Ky. – Dr. Kevin Qualls, an assistant professor in Murray State University’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communications, has received notification from the Kentucky Bar Association that his legal presentation has been approved for Continuing Legal Education credit.

Associate provosts named to fill vacancies at MSU – Drs. Renae Duncan and Jay Morgan to begin work in provost office

Officials at Murray State University (MSU) have announced the appointment of Dr. Renae Duncan and Dr. Jay Morgan as associate provosts, effective July 1. They will work with Dr. Bonnie Higginson, who will officially become the provost and vice president for academic affairs at MSU on that same date.

Regional Stewardship extends grants to community, outreach grows

MURRAY, Ky- After two successful years of project work, helping over 16,000 people in the 2009-10 academic year alone, Murray State University’s Office of Regional Stewardship & Outreach will now be accepting applications from regional organizations for grants to be used toward programs focused on improving the quality of life in the region. Projects demonstrating the strongest alignment with “educational attainment” will be selected for funding.

MSU to reap benefit of $1 million gift – Jones follows former large donations with this newest initiative

For Dr. Jesse D. Jones his gifts to Murray State University (MSU) are all about the students. His latest donation of $1 million in April clearly demonstrates the commitment he feels toward those seeking higher education. And while chemistry is close to his heart, this newest gift will impact many more students than just those majoring in that subject.

Two major initiatives will be funded through Jones’ most recent gift — equipment for the college of science, engineering and technology (CSET) and a Racer Writing Center in Waterfield Library.
